DHAKA, BANGLADESH, October 13, 2001: Various newspaper reports continue to be sent to HPI regarding post-election violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. According to these reports, at least 30 people were killed and more than 1,000 others injured in the recent spate of terrorism following the electoral victory of the BNP-led four-party alliance. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s repeated appeal to party workers to exercise maximum restraint and not to victimize their opponents appears to have fallen on deaf ears.
