LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, December 8, 2001: Some American Hindus are upset with the portrayal of Hindu Gods in the film “Lara Croft – Tomb Raider,” based on a popular video game. The offending images of the film, parts of which were shot on location at the famous Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia, shows statues of the Hindu monkey God Hanuman becoming demons that spring to life and attack the heroine. Lara Croft, played by top actress Angelina Jolie, blows the sacred monkey warriors to pieces with her guns in the picture that was released in June and has grossed more than US$120 million at the box office since its release.
