NASHVILLE, TENNESEE, September 14, 2003: Hundreds of people from different backgrounds gathered yesterday at the Sri Ganesha Temple in Nashville for the Indian Association of Nashville’s annual Indian Festival. “The reason we have this is to let the community become more aware of our temple and to experience Indian culture,” said Chander Kanal, president of the Association. “India has 27 states and every state has their own culture.” There were more than 15 booths set up at the festival, displaying Indian art and clothing along with a variety of Indian cuisine. Visitors got a chance to tour the temple and watch some of its members dance. “This was good for our children that were born in the United States to learn about the different states also,” said Jayesh Patel, vice president of the association.
