KAUAI, HAWAII, September 21, 2015: Hinduism Today is looking for a compassionate home for four sacred cows that will otherwise be sent to the slaughterhouse. These cows are now in a pasture in northern New York state. They are a hearty breed, Scottish Highland, and are used to wintering outside. They are 6 to 8 years old. The three cows are named Mata, Sri Ma and Bavani and the castrated bull is Nandi. They have lived outdoors all their life, grazing freely, and have never visited a vet or had shots. They are self-sufficient and require little maintenance if they have sufficient pasturage.

Photos are available. All costs of moving them to a new home will be provided. If you would like to take these beloved bovines under your care, please contact the editor of Hinduism Today, Sadasivanathaswami at sadasivanatha@hindu.org.
