KAUAI, HAWAII, November 12, 2018 (Himalayan Academy–home of HPI and Hinduism Today): On the favorable day of Skanda Shasti, the bronze Avudaiyar, the solid metal base for the temple’s 700-pound crystal Sivalingam, was transported to Iraivan Temple and moved partway into the inner sanctum where it will eventually be installed. Watch as the silpis temple craftsmen deftly maneuver this 11,000 pound avudaiyar first with a crane and then by hand with rollers and levers in the unusual short video at “source”. It’s a rarely seen part of new temple construction.
