BOGOTA, COLUMBIA, October 4, 2018 (BVS MTCI translated from Spanish): On October 4, 2018, in Bogota DC, during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia, with the aim of strengthening, promoting and developing cooperation in traditional medicine systems.

The Ministries agreed to cooperate with respect to the development of policies, plans, programs and projects; information on medicines, therapies without medication, official handbooks and materials and supplies used in traditional Indian medicine; the training, exercise and management of human resources; the development of training and research programs; and the safety, efficacy and quality of traditional medicine systems in India. This is one of the agreements that the AYUSH Ministry is carrying out, with several countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, to help articulate the MTCI in the region, with academic and scientific support. In 2016, agreements were signed with the University of Maimonides and the Ayurveda Prema Foundation of Argentina. In February 2018, agreements were signed with Cuba.
