INDIA, August 30, 2020 (Daily Pioneer): Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that the State Government is committed to holding the 2021 Kumbh Mela in a divine and grand form. The mela runs from January 14 to April 27. He said this while meeting the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP) head, general secretary and other office bearers to discuss the Kumbh Mela to be held in Haridwar next year. Reviewing the construction works being undertaken for the Kumbh Mela, Rawat directed that all permanent and temporary works should be completed before December 15. On the suggestions received from the Akhadas, the CM directed that the bathing ghats being constructed at Neeldhara and other places be named after the tutelary Deities of the 13 Akhadas.

The Mela should be organized in the same area as in 2010, the Mansa Devi hill bypass should be used during the Mela and the construction of internal roads should be expedited, he directed. Referring to Covid-19 pandemic, he said that the whole world is grappling with this crisis which has hampered the speed of work at all levels. Decisions would be taken according to the place, time and situation as it is difficult to forecast how the situation will be in the future.
