PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA, January 1, 2021 (Free Malaysia Today): The famous Sri Marathandavar Aalayam Maran temple in Maran, Pahang, and its surroundings have been flooded again, with waters rising to over 6ft high. Pictures and videos of the flood have been making their rounds on social media and the temple’s treasurer Tamil Selvan confirmed that the temple was flooded after heavy rain. “From the road, the water is as high as 6ft deep. Inside the raised temple, it reached around 3ft. “Many devotees came in the morning but as the water was rising steadily, we asked everyone to evacuate the area.” The temple’s office, he said, was also not spared, and he estimated total damage to the temple will hit the US$12,422 mark. Tamil told FMT that flooding of the temple was almost an annual occurrence. The surrounding areas and villages, he added, are also flooded.
