DHAKA, BANGLADESH, November 13, 2021 (Xinhua): Very nice set of photos of the Rakher Upobash festival held the day at a temple in Dhaka. The fasting devotees sit for prayer with burning incense and oil lamps. According to a 2020 report in the Dhakta Tribune, “Every year, thousands of followers of Loknath, gather at different branches of Shri Shri Lokenath Brahmachari Ashram for the Kartik Brati or Rakher Upobash religious festival. The festival is held on every Saturday and Tuesday during the last 15 days of Bangla month of Kartik (October/November). Lokenath Brahmachari, mostly known as Baba Lokenath, was an 18th Century Hindu saint and philosopher in Bengal. Lighting small lamps and special incense, Hindu worshipers fast and pray in earnest to the gods for favors during this ritual.”
