AUSTRALIA, May 16, 2022 (Hindu Council of Australia Press Release): Prime Minister, Mr. Scott Morrison announced a grant of $250,000 (US$174,000) to Hindu Council of Australia for its Karma Kitchen program. The announcement was made by him during a Hindu Council’s Meet and Greet Political Parties event at Park Royal, Parramatta. “Karma Kitchen” is an initiative taken by the Hindu Council Australia to distribute free food to homeless and needy people in our society, joining hands with an interagency network of community services, such as Mission Australia and Parramatta mission. Karma Kitchen is supported by local community organizations such as Letsgive Hope, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Sydney Friends of India Australia and Sri Om Care – Care for the Elderly, Day Care, In Home Care, Retirement Living.

Karma Kitchen is serving freshly cooked vegetarian meals on Saturdays lunch at Prince Alfred Park Square (corner of Victoria Rd and Church St) in Parramatta NSW and has been helping other needy people. This grant will help Karma Kitchen to expand its kitchen and its services to more needy people. Hindu Council has raised important issues affecting the Hindu and Indian community in Australia. In the lead up to the Federal election, the Hindu Council of Australia has met with political parties to learn their views on various issues of importance to the Hindu community.
