INDIA, October 24, 2023 (Bharat Times): The portals of the sacred Badrinath shrine in Uttarakhand, one of the Himalaya’s renowned pilgrimage sites, are set to close soon due to the onset of the winter season. With the closing of the portals, the Char Dham Yatra (pilgrimage to the four famed temples in this region) will conclude. On the occasion of Vijayadashami, a ceremony was held at the Badrinath temple premises, attended by religious leaders and priests.

Following the calculation of the Panchang (Hindu calendar), religious leaders and priests have decided to close the portals of the Badrinath shrine on November 18 at 3:33 pm. While the portals are closed, devotees can have the darshan of Lord Badrinath in his winter abode at the Narasimha Temple in Joshimath. In Hinduism, among the Char Dham (four sacred shrines), only the Badrinath Temple has a specific date for closing its doors. The closing date for the other three shrines is determined based on the Diwali festival. The Gangotri Temple will close its doors on the day after Diwali, coinciding with Govardhan Puja. The Kedarnath and Yamunotri Temples will close on the occasion of Bhai Dooj.
