HARIDWAR, August 1, 2024 (Jagran): Thursday is the last day of the Kanwar Yatra. The Kanwar fair, which reached its peak in the religious city echoing with the chants of Bam-Bam Bhole, has reached the pinnacle of supreme splendor. A flood of faith and devotion has surged in the lap of Ganga at Hari’s door, Haridwar, the religious city is painted in the saffron color of Shiva devotees and Kanwar pilgrims. Groups of Kanwar pilgrims kept roaming in the entire city. There is a huge crowd of them in the ancient monasteries and temples of the religious city, they are overwhelmed by visiting the temples. Everyone is enjoying the Kanwar pilgrims dancing to the tune of Bhole. So far, the number of Kanwar pilgrims reaching the holy city and returning with Gangajal has crossed 30 million. Colorful Kanwars (mostly highly decorated poles with two pots) are scattered all around, some four-storeyed Kanwars and some ten-storeyed ones. People are walking alone with Kanwars and groups of people are walking together carrying heavy Kanwars. Friday, August 2 is Mahashivratri, a huge crowd of Shiva devotees will gather for Jalabhishek in Shiva temples. Due to this, the procession of Shiva devotees and Kanwar pilgrims kept coming and going in groups all around the holy city throughout the day.
