HARIDWAR, INDIA, December 23: “Eve-teasing,” the harassment of young women by men, became such a problem for girls attending local colleges here that their parents appealed to the naga sadhus for help. According to reports, these sadhus, who go about unclothed in all seasons, accosted suspected or observed “eve-teasers” and chased them from the area. The naga sadhus are a militant order of Hindu monks formed, in part, to protect pilgrims to this holy city.
