THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, KERALA, INDIA, December 20, 2001: At this state’s third national conference focusing on Ayurveda, Health Minister. P. Sankaran said, “The preservation of the ancient science of Ayurveda and promotion of development and research in the traditional branch of medicine will be among the prime agendas of the government.” The state government has already established the Central Ayurveda University at Kottakkal and plans are in the works to start a medicinal plant board that would index an inventory on medicinal plants and ensure that patents to prepare medicines stay in the state. Among other things, Mr. Sankaran would like to ensure quality treatment for tourists and a holistic approach to patient care by accepting all systems of medicine.
