MOENCHENGLADBACH, GERMANY, December 6, 2017 (RP, translated from German): Finding a home for the community, that was the ultimate goal of the Hindu community when it first arrived. After 20 years and many relocations within the city, the goal has now come within reach. The foundation stone was laid in a solemn ceremony. On the grounds of the former company of Renate and Wilhelm Wynen, the community in Guedderath can now take root. “We have fulfilled the first goal of our association,” says co-founder Kanagaratnam Sriskantharajah proudly. Architect Franz-Josef Vennen is also convinced: “This was the birth of a new temple.”

Already with the greeting of the numerous guests it becomes clear: It is not only a building project, but here it concerns integration (into German society) and international understanding. In addition to Lord Mayor Hans Wilhelm Reiners, representatives of local politics and district pastor Stephan Dedring were also invited. “I am very pleased that the Hindu community has now found a place for inner contemplation,” emphasizes Hans Wilhelm Reiners. Each one was able place a stone in the excavated foundation pit, which in future will support the main altar of the Deity Ganesha. So Christians and Hindus, together, laid the foundation stone for the new home of the Hindu community.
