RAJAHMUNDRY, INDIA, May 28, 2019 (Deccan Chronicle): Officials of the popular Lord Satyanarayana temple at Annavaram in East Godavari will impose a dress code on devotees who will visit the temple to perform rituals and puja from July 1. Temple officials said the male devotees will be required to wear a shirt, a dhoti and a kanduva shawl while female devotees are to wear saris or Punjabi dresses. Modern dress like jeans and T-shirts and others will not be allowed. The Annavaram temple authorities are following model of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board.

Annavaram temple executive officer M.V. Suresh Babu said, “We are contemplating imposing the dress code only for devotees who perform vratas and other rituals initially. In phases, it will be introduced to others who visit the temple.” He said the temple board will collect feedback from the people on the dress code and take a final decision.
