INDIA, July 4, 2023 (Times of India): Morning aarti (worship with oil lamps) was performed at Amarnath holy cave early on July 4. The annual Amarnath Yatra began on July 1 with the first batch of pilgrims beginning their journey from Baltal base camp in Jammu Kashmir’s Ganderbal to Amarnath Cave. The 62-day yatra, which commenced on July 1 will culminate on August 31. It is an important pilgrimage for Hindus who visit the Amarnath Cave, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The pilgrims will undertake a 7.45 mile journey from the base camp to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas at about 13,000 feet.
