PARIS FRANCE, December 2, 2024 (English.Jagran) The BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir in Paris is expected to be completed by 2026. The construction of the BAPS temple in Paris began six months ago at a site sanctified by Pramukh Swami 36 years ago with a symbolic shower of flowers. The temple’s construction is progressing rapidly. The Hindu temple, spanning approximately 5,000 square meters, is located in the Basse Saint-Georges area of Paris. According to sources, the first floor will house a large community hall, a library, an exhibition center, and a dining area. The second floor will feature the main temple, where statues of Deities including Lord Shankar and Parvati, Ganesh, Shriram and Janki, Shrikrishna and Radha, Hanuman, Swaminarayan, and Gunatitananda Swami will be enshrined.
In July 1970 Yogiji Maharaj paused at Le Bourget Airport in Paris and envisioned a spiritual hub in France, urging Pramukh Swami and Mahant Swami to sanctify the land. In May 1988 Pramukh Swami Maharaj blessed Paris by showering flowers from the sky, reiterating Yogiji Maharaj’s vision of spreading peace and spirituality across Europe. Construction officially began in June 2024 with the laying of the first foundation stone during a traditional Hindu ceremony.
